THE RIVER RIDE – Today you will be heading to the East of Alte and along the Ribeira de Algibre for a picnic lunch and a dip in the cooling waters that apparently have healing powers...perfect for your cycling legs! The day begins with undulating single track before a long descent into a field full of orange groves. The trail follows the river and eventually becomes AQR’s famous 3km single track, a memorable silky smooth trail with small rocky sections to test you and your bike on. There are fast bends and dips that will keep you buzzing for more....and there is more as AQR have extended this section to offer you another 1km of single track along the river, before and optional loop that includes a rocky climb and fast decent down to lunch which will be on the river bed of the Algibre. After lunch there is a two part climb with some interesting challenges, before more descending and climbing that will take the group to a split point where you can retire early for the afternoon and reach the cake shop first or join in the fun of another loop with plenty of undulating trails that end up descending into Alte.
THE THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE - This is the biggest ride of the week that includes the ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ which is your chance to have your name engraved in AQR’s Trail of Fame...only if you clear it!!! There are fun flowy descents to follow including a huggggge switch back descent with both easy and hard alternatives along the way. This is one adventure not to miss out on!
THE TWIN TOWERS – Today you will be heading to Rocha do Soidas which includes a short hike to a spectacular view point overlooking the rolling hills of the Algarve. This will be followed by more single track and an undulating double track through the cork groves before lunch at ‘The Twin Towers’ of Rocha Da Pena, old Moorish ruins that survived the earthquake in the 18th century. The afternoon finishes with a lovely section of trail with optional small drops offs if you fancy them before a challenging climb that will make you sweat, but at the top you will be buzzing from the effort, especially if you clear it. This will be followed by the big descent of the afternoon before a cruisy off road ride home that weaves in and out of the valley villages and shows you a different part of the Algarve left unspoilt from the concrete jungle of the Algarve coast line.
